Blarg, Openbox/X won't start under my profile on my workstation. Complains about ".dmrc" and then pukes. :(
-
I think .dmrc is created when you log into X. Maybe you've got a stale one hanging around?
-
I tried removing it and logging in again, but didn't have any luck. It also mentions something about permissions and disk space...
-
...both of which are not an issue. :(
-
I'm probably going to end up moving my home directory and starting fresh, while slowly moving everything back. :(
-
Apparently .dmrc must not be writeable by other users. The disk space issue makes the whole thing sound odd.
-
Yeah - I'm not sure what's going on, and I don't know much about debugging X/WM issues. :P
-
I checked just to make sure there wasn't some sort of quota thing on my home dir, and didn't see anything. The drive still has 40 GB free.
-
If /homme is on a a separate partition maybe it isn't mounting right.
-
And /home/windigo/ is still owned by you and has 755 permissions (or 700 would be OK)?
-
/home was mounted okay - I could log on with other users, and the permissions on the folder were okay.
-
I'm guessing that an update recently borked one of the X/Openbox configs somehow. Starting out with fresh ones seems to work...
-
Either way, I'm up and running after starting a new /home/me folder and copying stuff over (except X and openbox configs).
-
Thanks for all the help troubleshooting, man! :)
-
I occasionally have xmonad and Xfce interact badly, leaving Xfce screwed up. Sometimes it's good to start from scratch.
-
No problem. Wish I could have been more actual help. :)
-
Agreed - and this profile had come a long way, picking up many WM & DE configs along the way. :)
